Game saves from an original Xbox console cannot be transferred to the Xbox 360 console. Xbox Live functionality for original Xbox games has been discontinued, which means there's no online multiplayer support. You can still play with your buddies, however, by linking two Xbox 360s using a cable or by linking up to 16 consoles through a network.
What exactly do you mean by "won't play". The thing with backward compatible games on disc is, that the disc is only a "proof of purchase" for the console. The actual game data on the disc is useless, as it is in a different "language" than the X64-architecture in the Xbox One (the Xbox 360 using a Power PC processor architecture).

Except for one other game but the likelihood of it showing up as Backwards Compatible is slim. That game is Project Sylpheed. If Zone of Enders HD gets added, it would be amazing. The performance of the games is bad, in particular 2ND runner on the Xbox 360 is terrible, epically once you get to later levels.
